Southbury, CT Randy L. Brooks, 57, husband of the late Kathleen (Fox) Brooks, died peacefully Friday, February 13, 2015 at his home. Randy was born May 18, 1957 in Waterbury a son of Gwendolyn M. (Krampetz) Brooks and the late Roy E. Brooks. Randy lived in Naugatuck most of his life, having lived the past 15 years in Southbury. Randy worked for many years as a designer and fabricator in the robotics industry. Besides his mother, Randy leaves his sister, Sherri Shedd-Bushey, and his nephews, Wesley Shedd and Christopher Shedd. Per Randy’s request, all services will be private. Naugatuck, CT Patricia M. Marino, 71, died Saturday morning, February 21, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital after a brief illness. Pat was the wife of Charles L. Marino and step-mother of Charlene A. Marino, both of Naugatuck. Pat was a retired inspector for T-Bar/Data Switch. After moving to Naugatuck, Pat served on the Republican Town Committee and spent many years on the Planning Board as chairwoman. Pat loved animals, and over the years she raised a number of West Highland White Terriers. Every Sunday morning, Pat had the radio tuned to WATR Carosello Italiano. A member of the Waterbury Sail and Power Squadron, Pat, Charles and Charlene spent the past three summers sailing with friends on Long Island Sound aboard their 31 foot sailboat. The daughter of the late Dorothy and William A. Schneider, who were from Wilton, CT, Pat is predeceased by her parents, brother William and sisters, Betty Churchill and Jean Schneider. In addition to her husband Charles and her daughter Charlene, Pat is survived by her sister, Shirley Schneider of Wilton, her brother, Donald Schneider of Kennebunkport, ME, and many cousins. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street. Naugatuck, CT William A. Keidel, 70, died peacefully Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at his home. Bill was born January 6, 1945 in Waterbury, a son of the late Robert and Millicent (Byrnes) Keidel. Prior to his retirement, Bill worked as a diesel mechanic and a CDL truck driver at Bozzuto’s. Bill was a Vietnam War Era U.S. Navy Veteran, who served aboard the USS Wright. Bill was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 17, a member of the Veterans Who Care Committee and the Elite Society of the 40 & 8. Bill was an avid gardener and outdoorsmen and a member of the CT Grange. Besides his great love for his family, Bill loved his country and spent countless hours volunteering for veterans causes. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed fishing, going to car shows, and watching football and NASCAR racing. Bill is survived by his daughter Heather Keidel Hayes and her husband Daniel of Watertown, his daughter Amy Borenski and her husband John of Naugatuck, his daughter Martha Keidel of Beacon Falls, his brother Alan Keidel of Oxford, his sister Patricia Foran and her husband Gary of Watertown, his grandchildren, Meah and John Borenski and his step grandchildren, Grace and Ava Hayes. Bill was predeceased by his brother Robert Keidel and his sister Millicent “Penny” Roden. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00pm at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 210 Church Street. There are no calling hours. Beacon Falls, CT Anna L. Zollo, 101, the widow of Charles Zollo, died peacefully Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Paradigm Healthcare Center of Prospect. Anna was born June 27, 1913 in Middletown, CT a daughter of the late Salvatore and Alfia (Mazzota) Leonardo, having lived most of her life in Beacon Falls, and was first and foremost dedicated to her family. Anna had worked as a cottage supervisor at Southbury Training School and she had also worked at Uniroyal, Inc. Anna was a communicant of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church and a member of the Church Ladies Guild. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross Blood Program, a member of the Beacon Falls Senior Citizens and she crocheted and donated many afghans for veterans and the elderly. Anna is survived by her son Albert C. Zollo and his wife Marion of Beacon Falls, her son Leonard R. Zollo and his wife Katherine of Bethany, her son Charles L. Zollo and his wife Jane of Babylon, L.I., NY, her grandchildren, Emily, Karen, Amy, David, Christopher and Colin, her great grandchildren, Kaylana, Antonio, Sadie and Maggie, her brother-in-law Richard, her sisters-in-law May and Antoinette, and her many nieces and nephews. Lucille Russell
Lucille (Karbowicz) Russell, age 88, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2nd surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Nikodem and Marianna (Bochinski) Karbowicz. She was pre-deceased by her sons Andrew Christen and Robin; also her sister, Helen Gordon, and her brothers Edmund, Matthew, Chester, and Henry Karbowicz. Lucille is survived by two sons Kenneth and his wife Carolyn of Lenoir, North Carolina, and Frederick, of Naugatuck, with whom she made her home. She is also survived by her two daughters, Nancy and her husband Kenneth Dupont of Naugatuck and Janice Russell, also of Naugatuck, as well as her daughter-in-law, Marian Russell Carroll of Waterbury. She leaves her grandchildren, Amy Tarr, Kenneth Russell, Nicholas Russell, Jonathan Russell, Scott Russell, Mary Russell, Christopher Dupont, Sydney Dupont, and Ethan Russell. In addition she had 14 great-grandchildren. Lucille was very active in the Naugatuck community. She was a past president of the Naugatuck Women’s Club, a member of the Naugatuck Historical Society, Naugatuck Garden Club, St. Francis Catholic Council, and the Borough of Naugatuck Pension Board. Lucille was a proud member of the workforce during World War II as a fuel cell inspector. She brought her poise and dignity to a number of jobs as she raised her family. She ended her working career in the mayor’s office of Naugatuck, managing the workers compensation program. Of all her accomplishments Lucille’s greatest joy was her family. She will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Maria Adelia (Almeida) Matos, 83, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at her son’s home in Prospect. She was the wife of the late Firmino Matos who passed away in 2011. Mrs. Matos was born in Pardilho, Portugal, on August 16, 1931. A loving wife and mother, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Waterbury and member of the Portuguese Club of Naugatuck. Mrs. Matos is survived by her son, Elisiario Matos and his wife, Lourdes, of Prospect; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Luis Antonio Matos and a brother, Elisiario Almeida. The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, March 6, from the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck, to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury, for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. William Donovan
Naugatuck, CT – William (Bill) P. Donovan, born August 2, 1956, passed away suddenly on March 5, 2015 at Waterbury Hospital. William is survived by his wife of 34 years, Kathleen L. Donovan, his three daughters, Keeley E. (Donovan) Phipps; Katelyn J. Donovan; Kellie A. Donovan; his grandson Colton D. Phipps; son-in-law, Ryan Phipps, along with several nephews and nieces, grand nephews and nieces, and numerous cousins. William was predeceased by his mother Rose M. (Nardello) Donovan, brother Gerald Donovan and sister Jackie O’Donnell. William was a lifelong resident of Naugatuck. He and his wife, Kathleen L. Donovan, also a lifelong resident of Naugatuck were married in August 1980 and remained in Naugatuck to raise their three daughters. William was a commercial plumber for the Local 777 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. William attended Naugatuck High School and was a four year member of the Naugatuck High School Football team. William began skiing when he was 5 years old and went on to achieve great success as a junior ski racer ranking number one in the Tri-State area in his class. William was invited to the Olympic B team at age 16. William went on to become a well-respected ski racing coach at Mount Southington and Mohawk Mountain. William loved the sport of ski racing and passed on his knowledge and skill of ski racing to his three daughters as well as many young ski racers many of whom achieved great success in their ski racing career. William was well respected and loved by those he touched in the ski racing circuit. William loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Colton. William was an avid golfer and motorcyclist enjoying these activities with friends and family. Kathryn was born October 21, 1915 in Paw Paw, Michigan, the daughter of the late Rodney H. Speese and Nita C. (Prater) Speese. She was a retired employee of Peter Paul and she was a member of the United Methodist Church of Naugatuck. Kathryn is survived by her son, Oliver Frank Wallock of Springfield, MA and her daughter, Karen Monaco of Naugatuck. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 1:00pm at the United Methodist Church of Naugatuck, 214 Meadow Street. Burial will be at a later date in Grove Cemetery. He was a retired employee of Allied Signal, where he had worked for 35 years. John was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Friend whose favorite thing to do was enjoy time with family and friends. Joe attended Crosby High School and worked as a truck driver for many years. In his younger days, he enjoyed mini and dirt bike riding, for which he received several awards for his riding skills. He enjoyed life, hanging out with his friends and he was a huge jokester. You always knew Joe was around when you would hear “YO”. Survivors are sisters, Kathleen Natelle, Margaret Woodbury, Doreen Natelle and brother, Carlo Natelle, Jr., niece, Tammy Woodbury and great nieces, Krystal and Heather Woodbury. Joe was predeceased by his brother Michael Natelle, his grandparents Michael Carlo and Marie (Mazzillo) Natelle, and Ruel and Margaret (King) Hatch.
